Signing Off for Summer – CTE Blog Pause & Summer Availability

As the school year comes to a close, regular blogging will be paused while the incredible CTE teachers of the Olympia School District take a well-earned summer break ! 🌞✌️ We’ll return with updates, reminders, and new opportunities at the end of August . Until then, have an amazing, restful, and safe summer! While You Rest, We’re Still Here Although teachers are on break, the CTE Department will remain available and working through most of the summer. If you need anything, don’t hesitate to reach out! Please note: Knox summer hours may vary , and CTE staff will be working from other locations some days. Hello CTE Team, I hope you all had a restful long weekend! That extra day on Friday created a welcome four-day weekend. I was fortunate to get to see some family, and the weather was just my kind of perfect. I hope everyone was able to take a moment to honor the fallen heroes in their own lives. 🔹 Highlights from Last Week 📝 CTE End of Year Report:   Paula completed all required sections of the CTE End of Year Report for Perkins Accountability and the OSD Board.   ➡️ Friendly reminder: Every high school CTE teacher must complete the IRC, WBL, and DC spreadsheet as part of the end-of-year reporting process. CTE Weekly Update: Wrapping Up the Year Strong

  H ello CTE Team, We’re in the home stretch of the school year, and CTE is going strong! While most CTSO events have concluded, we’re still moving full speed ahead with field trips, student recognitions, and planning for the future. 🔹 Highlights from Last Week 🎨 Student Art Achievements:  A huge congratulations to several students from our Art programs who were honored at the Superintendent’s High School Art Show on May 14 . Their creativity and dedication were truly on display at this annual celebration! 🛠️ Trades Field Trip:  On May 16 , students in our Trades programs participated in Pierce County Construction Career Day at the Washington State Fairgrounds.   Hello CTE Team, Here it is, mid-May! I love this time of year—longer days and more sunshine always lift my spirits. I hope you’re finding something this spring that brings you renewed energy as well. 🔹 Highlights from Last Week 💻 Qmlative Student Migration Training Chelsea and I spent May 5 at ESD113 in training for our upcoming transition to Q . While there’s more to learn, it was great to preview the administrative side of the new system. Your Technology TOSAs will ensure you have multiple training opportunities for the Educator Access side in the coming months. 📘 Four-Year Plans Thank you to everyone who has submitted your Four-Year Plans !   Hello CTE Team, It has been a busy few weeks in CTE! With spring comes CTSO events, field trips, career research, and post-secondary planning. I hope you're all feeling the energy of the season. This week, I encourage you to take a moment to reflect on the incredible work you do each day for your students and schools. Great teachers shape the future, and we are truly fortunate in OSD to have so many exceptional educators among us. 🔹 Updates from Last Week Field Trips – I had the pleasure of spending time with students in our Construction Trades program as they toured active build sites. I also supported Try a Trade day at New Market Skills Center. We were lucky with beautiful weather both days, and student engagement was outstanding! 🔹 This Week’s Events Qmlativ Student Migration Training – On Monday, Chelsea and Paula will be at ESD 113 for the first of the Qmlativ trainings designed for OSD office staff. Wrapping Up April

 Hi Team CTE - I hope you are ready to welcome Spring in your classroom and beyond.  I always feel so much renewed energy during the time when we see more light and sunny days. 🔹 Updates from Last Week WACTA – Washington Association of Career & Technical Educators was able to gather and learn about the legislative actions already taken and what we might expect at the end of the session.  🔹 This Week’s Events Field Trips  – Our Construction Trades program is planning a tour of two active build sites. I will also be supporting Try a Trade  day at New Market Skills Center.  Four-Year Plans -  Please remember your Four-Year Plans are due the first of next week.  Every CTE teacher should be completing a four-year plan either by themselves or with Program Area Partners in their building or throughout town.
