Hello CTE Team,
We’re in the home stretch of the school year, and CTE is going strong! While most CTSO events have concluded, we’re still moving full speed ahead with field trips, student recognitions, and planning for the future.
πΉ Highlights from Last Week
π¨ Student Art Achievements: A huge congratulations to several students from our Art programs who were honored at the Superintendent’s High School Art Show on May 14. Their creativity and dedication were truly on display at this annual celebration!
π ️ Trades Field Trip: On May 16, students in our Trades programs participated in Pierce County Construction Career Day at the Washington State Fairgrounds. They had the opportunity to interact directly with businesses and unions in the trades—an invaluable experience for exploring potential career paths.
π Four-Year Plans Approved: On May 15, Paula presented the OSD Four-Year Plans to the South Sound Council (General Advisory Committee). The SSC approved the plans and encouraged continued integration of workforce data to guide program development and refinement. Great work, Paula!
πΉ Looking Ahead: This Week’s Events
π CTE End of Year Report: Paula will be completing the required CTE End of Year Report and updating the Comprehensive Local Needs Assessment this week. Both are essential components for maintaining Perkins funding. A friendly reminder: every high school CTE teacher must complete the IRC, WBL, and DC spreadsheet as part of this reporting process. Thank you in advance for your collaboration!
π Out of Office: On Tuesday, May 20, I will be out of the office as I recover from a minor medical procedure to remove a spot of skin cancer. Thankfully, it was caught early, and my doctors are confident about a full recovery.
Thank you for all the energy and passion you continue to bring to CTE. Keep up the great work as we head toward a well-earned long weekend!
