Weekly Updates

 Hi CTE Team -

I hope you all had a restful and enjoyable holiday last week and were able to spend time in ways that brought you joy.

I dedicated the first two days of last week to completing three different grant applications. If you’ve heard that I would include you in our application, I’m happy to confirm that has been done. Please send positive thoughts our way as we await the results of our requests.

The Winter PLC Meetings have been scheduled. These meetings will focus on reviewing the Work-Based Learning reporting documents. We’ll begin the process of completing this document alongside grading for Semester 1. Calendar invitations have been sent to HS teachers.  I will register attendees in PDEnroller in case they are interested in earning clock hours.

Here are the details for the meetings:

  • OHS: December 18, 2024, from 3:00 - 4:00 in Skip's room

  • CHS: January 22, 2024, from 3:00 - 4:00 in Amanda's room

Updates from the Past Two Weeks:

  • Technology Advisory Committee

    • AI Guidance for Schools Committee will begin to create a guidance document for OSD.  Please reach out to your building’s TAC representative for more information.

    • Grammarly Suspension: OSD will suspend access to Grammarly for middle schools during Winter Break. High School access will be determined based on your input. If you have feedback, please contact your TAC representative as soon as possible.

    • App Approval Process: The process for app approval and guidance for teachers is now available on the OSD Portal.  OSD Technology Department expects all teachers, including those teaching CTE to follow this process.  The Technology Department will collaborate with CTE during the approval process.

  • District Leadership Team Meeting

    • The focus was on the district-wide "Dare to Lead" initiative.

  • HR and CTE Meeting: We discussed Conditional Renewal Requirements & teachers up for renewal in 2025. If you're due for renewal in 2025 and have a Conditional Certificate, the following requirements apply:

    • 50 clock hours (content area, general education, or CTE-specific)

    • Evidence of enrollment in a Plan 2 course or a Professional Growth Plan to obtain Initial Certification.

  • Secondary Admin Meeting: CTE joined this meeting to discuss the HSBP and Course Planner. It was decided that OSD will not use the Course Planner option in SchooLinks at this time.

Happening This Week:

  • OHS/CTE Monthly Meeting

  • Legislative Updates with WA-ACTE

  • CHS/CTE Monthly Meeting

  • OPSI/CTE/T&L/Business/Tech Meeting regarding Consolidated Program Review

Please reach out if you have any questions or need further information.
