Hi CTE Team, With no updates or meetings scheduled this week, I wanted to take a moment to wish you all a joyful and restful Thanksgiving. I’m so grateful for the hard work, creativity, and dedication you bring to our district every day—it truly makes a difference. This week, I hope you find time to relax, recharge, and enjoy the holiday with loved ones—or however you choose to celebrate. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving, and thank you for everything you do to support our team and students.

Weekly Update & Winter PLC Plans

Hello CTE Team, As we approach the holiday season, I hope you're making plans that will refresh you and bring joy for Thanksgiving. Winter PLC Meetings I’m working with HS Building Leaders to finalize the dates, times, and locations for your Winter PLC meetings. These meetings will focus on Work-Based Learning, Dual Credit, and Industry-Recognized Credential reports. Since middle school teachers don’t report on these areas, the meetings will be for high school teams only. Updates from Last Week Student Support, CTE, T&L, and Business Office Meeting The Business Office will reach out to staff using InTouch to ensure training on the new interface. Business Office has confirmed that no changes to District Travel Policies are being considered at this time. Welcome November

Hello CTE Team - As we transition into the winter season, I am delighted to reconnect with each of you and share that I am back after welcoming new grandchildren into our family.  I want to extend my deepest gratitude for the understanding and support many of you have shown during my time away.  Your flexibility has allowed me to be there for my family during this difficult and significant time, and I am incredibly appreciative of your understanding and commitment to our programs. With my focus returning to our work at Olympia School District, I look forward to revisiting some of the goals discussed last spring.  Although my attention has been on my family, my commitment to ongoing communication remains strong.  I will resume regular updates here, along with reminders in emails that will include key points and district-wide updates. This week, on Wednesday, I invite our West Side CTE Teachers to meet and begin working on our Annual Program Documents.  This sessi...

Budgets & Leadership

Good Morning Team CTE  OSPI pays MSOC amounts to OSD based on class counts.  Count day is the fourth day of school so we could report class counts last week.  We will be working this week to calculate and load budget amounts.  The process is not super speedy, but know that we will provide you the data before you can see it via Skyward. In addition to the above, this week we will begin processing stipends for Voc Ed work done outside the school day, stipends for leading a CTSO, and other CTE-related work.   This is a gentle reminder that Program of Work documents for your Extended Leadership are due on the first of October.  If you haven't already, soon you will be having an opportunity to meet with your clubs.  The Program of Work should be completed by your club leaders with your support and guidance.  All CTE teachers are required by OSPI to offer extended learning, even those who do not operate a CTSO.  If you were unable to attend th...
